Jacques Herzog, M.D., a native of St. Louis, received his medical degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1980, where he was named a University Scholar. While in medical school Dr. Herzog was honored with the "Friends of University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Medicine Student Research Award."

Dr. Herzog completed his residency in Otolaryngology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas in 1985. He then completed a fellowship on Otology and Neurotology at the University of Zurich in Zurich, Switzerland under Professor Ugo Fisch.

He is certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology in Otolaryngology as well as Neurotology. He is a Fellow of the American Neurotology Society and the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. Dr. Herzog has served on several committees for both societies, including facial nerve disorders, skull base surgery and hearing and equilibrium.

Dr. Herzog is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Otolaryngology at the Washington University School of Medicine and a member of the Board of Managers of the Central Institute for the Deaf. He is a member of the editorial review board of the Journal "Otology & Neurotology". Dr. Herzog has lectured extensively both nationally as well as internationally on various disorders of the ear and related structures. He has a particular interest in Cochlear Implants, Acoustic Neuromas, Meniere's disease, Bell's Palsy and Chronic Otitis Media, including Cholesteatoma.

The cochlear implant program at the Center for Hearing and Balance Disorders has been recognized by the Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. In May 2006, they awarded us a grant for fellowship training in the area of cochlear implants. This grant will enable the Center to expand our patient care efforts, as well as research in the area of cochlear implants and hearing loss.

Dr. Herzog has been cited in "Best Doctors in America" since 1994. He has also been included among "Top Docs" in St. Louis.
